and the Poetics of Landscape
End of the exhibition
This is an exhibition of Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851), one of Britain’s leading masters of landscape paintings. Turner employed skillful techniques to depict nature’s various expressions, such as peaceful countryside landscapes, stormy seas, and towering mountains. By uniquely evoking light and atmosphere, Turner’s landscape paintings influenced many artists including French impressionists. This exhibition introduces some 120 watercolor, oil, and print works of Turner and focuses on their core and allure in four sections entitled, “Topography” “Seascapes” “Landscapes of Antiquity” and “Mountains”.
